I had the privilege of attending Public Leadership Education Network’s conference Women in Global Policy in Washington D.C. in May 2016 and I could not recommend this program more. If you have any desire to go into the field of international relations, whether it is from working within the U.S. State Department to running an international NGO, go to PLEN. This experience was completely more than I could have imagined. This conference, over a five-day period covered a wide range of topics presented by female experts in their fields. You will learn about the benefits of networking, resume building, salary negotiation, and so much more. You will be exhausted by the end, but so incredibly inspired to take the next step toward your future career.
As an undergraduate senior at Virginia Commonwealth University I try to take advantage of every opportunity to branch out at events, and when I read in my school’s weekly announcements about the PLEN’s upcoming event Women in Global Policy in Washington D.C. I knew it was right up my alley.
I left every seminar with a feeling of awe. These kick butt women were sharing their stories with us aspiring college students and the advice they gave was unparalleled to many mentors I have met in the past. Thank you PLEN for giving me the opportunity to be surrounded by like-minded driven women, to bond and network with the future leaders of global policy.
