Debbie Ricker

Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Hood College

Debbie is the Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs at Hood College in Frederick, Maryland.  She has been in higher education for nearly 25 years, serving first as a tenured professor of Biology at York College of Pennsylvania before transitioning to a series of administrative leadership roles there, including Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and Dean of Academic Services.  

At Hood College, she oversees all undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as other academic affairs operations including the Library, Career Center, Office of Institutional Research, and Registrar’s Office.  Debbie also serves on the LYNX Advisory Board for Frederick County Public Schools, and the Senior Advisory Group for Engagement (SAGE) of Campus Compact Mid-Atlantic.  She is past-president of the Pennsylvania Academy of Science and former member of the York Women’s Business Center Organization. 

Debbie received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Mars Hill University, a Master’s degree in biology from East Tennessee State University, and a Ph.D. from The Johns Hopkins University.
