PLEN’s for you if …

  • You want to spend a few days learning how Washington really works.
  • You want to spend a summer doing Washington work.
  • You want connections to women leaders who’ll help you get a job here.
At a short seminar or through an internship, you’ll learn how to turn your passion into a career in public policy making. It’ll be a fun, exciting experience that leaves you with a real feel for whether this is a career you’d like -- and practical information about how to create one. Savvy women policy makers “teach” you – Members of Congress, presidential advisors, major judicial officials, corporate lobbyists, and leaders of national nonprofit organizations. Only PLEN offers college women intense, specialized seminars where you’ll experience the excitement of a public policy career, discover how you can have one, and network with women who can help you build one – all in 3 to 5 days!  No other organization in Washington offers short programs that expose students to public policy making. If you want deeper involvement, PLEN offers internships customized to your interests that include  weekly sessions to help you get the most out of your Washington stay – all at three to five times less money than other Washington internship programs. Weekly sessions range from meetings with women Members of Congress to coaching in resume writing, networking, interviewing, and other critical job skills. PLEN program alumnae never leave the PLEN family.  Seven out of 10 alums report that PLEN somehow factored in securing their first job.  An even larger number say that they used skills learned through PLEN programs in their first job.
